About me

Lisa Pedscalny is a mindfulness teacher rooted in nearly twenty years of Vipassana practice and a lifelong relationship with the natural world. Her teaching grows from that lived connection, blending contemplative practice with close attention to the more-than-human world.
A graduate of the Mindfulness Meditation Teacher Certification Program with Tara Brach and Jack Kornfield, Lisa facilitates trauma-informed retreats, courses, mentorship, and sangha gatherings. She also serves on the teaching team for Tara Brach’s yearlong program, Choosing to Love. Her work integrates mindfulness, embodiment, and ecological connection as pathways of healing, interdependence, and sustainable engagement with the wider web of life.
As a nature photographer specializing in fungi, Lisa brings the same attentive presence to the forest floor, inviting others into the simple, joyful practice of looking closely. Through both photography and teaching, she explores how slowing down and relating intimately with the natural world can soften striving and make mindfulness feel accessible and alive.
Lisa lives and practices on Vancouver Island in British Columbia, Canada, where time outdoors continues to shape and inform both her life and her work.
My Teachers & Inspirations
My path has been shaped by many wise and compassionate guides. I’m deeply grateful to Tara Brach, Jack Kornfield & Sharon Shelton, who mentored me through my certification program. Their teachings continue to nourish my practice and my heart.
I also draw guidance from countless other teachers—human and more-than-human—who remind me every day of our interconnection and belonging. Here are a precious few.
In Practice & in Nature
Here are a few glimpses from my life of practice and time in the natural world. These moments reflect the places where mindfulness, creativity, and belonging come alive for me, and where I find myself most at home.
